- I don't have a link to 2.0 but I am sure it is out there, however if your objective is to save as a svg via DE you can do that in 1.9 just fine.0·Share on FacebookShare on Twitter
- Thanks. But I also used 2.0 to print sometimes. I don't think 1.9 works as well for that. I may just need to go with both 1.9 and 2.9
- @susan_ID2293 - you're not looking hard enough. At the moment, the post following this one has the link:
http://forum.make-the-cut.com/discussion/40813/converting-studio-files-to-svg#latest - Thanks Liz but I was looking for a link to the older version 2.0.
- I have been trying to get V2.0 for a long time now after losing my CD and have found it impossible. You can get V2.7 but of course doesn't save to .svg. I have found that you cannot open the V2 legacy saves with V1.9 so I am still hoping to come across my CD as I am tidying and sorting my boxes and drawers. If I find it I will let you know susan_ID2293.

- Julie - can you define V2 legacy saves? Does that mean all the shapes I bought in the store, or just files created from scratch in 2.9 (the legacy version on the website ? I have only used Studio V2 to open files I bought and then export to svg - but I have not done so since V3 came out.
- Anyone know why v1.9 available to download and not v2.0? I too would like to be able to download v2.0Kathy W.Like my C..t E and LOVE my 24' Black Cat Cougar and now a Cameo
- I want to know why Shilouette will not let us export svg files??? I would certainly buy some of their files if I could use them in MTC, not saying anything bad about their software, I just do not want to learn it, im a little technically challenged, it just makes no sense to me, really, just my 2 cents. - @UKiainIB - probably not, as they want 1.9 or 2.0 versions. A bug or errors on part of the progammers left the ability to save as svg files in these versions, and these versions only. SS does not let you open svg unless you have the Designer Edition, and no version (other than 1.9 or 2.0) lets you export to svg. People want to save their studio files to svg.
Also, to further clarify for anyone looking it has to be version 1.9 or 2.0 DE for the PC - it DOES NOT and never has worked with the 1.9 or 2.0 MAC versions.@UKiainIB - probably not, as they want 1.9 or 2.0 versions. Cutting with 18' Silver Bullet and a KNK Force (the rest are collecting dust!)- @bossie1 There's two theories: 1) They don't want people to be able to buy shapes from their store, export as SVG, and then resell the shapes on another site.
2) They don't want people to use Silhouette Studio to design SVGs for sale. You may remember that they revoked the user's right to sell in .studio format, which is the only approved format that you can save your work in Silhouette Studio as.Howdy from Texas! ~ Owner of a Cameo, Dreamer of a KNK FORCE! ~ Get help for your Cameo or Portrait at AngeliCuts'n'Sews - I don't think 2.0 was ever a downloadable archive, it was only on CD. I have never seen it available as a download. We probably need to get the word out about the value of those CDs so people know they need to hang onto them.
@Angelicuts theory 1 is the reason, albeit ridiculous because since this is already possible. - I have a third theory: Silhouette deliberately restricts their software to their own file formats (.studio and .gsd) thereby attempting to lock in their customers to their brand of cutter. Note: I've had dozens of prospective KNK buyers contact me because they want to buy a Zing for more functionality but are worried about how they'll use their thousands of .studio files Fortunately, there are ways around that issue, but I see Silhouette making every attempt to prevent this from happening.. kind of like how PC tries to lock in their customers.Sandy McCauley

I agree - this was the first thing that came to mind.I have a third theory: Silhouette deliberately restricts their software to their own file formats (.studio and .gsd) thereby attempting to lock in their customers to their brand of cutter. In NC cutting with a Cameo, 18' BC Cougar, & Pazzles Vue- I feel it is very short sited of them, there are tons of users of other machines that would buy their files if they made them available in other formats or allowed saving as SVG. Fortunately I have the correct version and did take all my designs I bought with me. I would never purchase any design that is locked into one cutter only. I learned that lesson with Cricut!0·Share on FacebookShare on Twitter
- We can look at this situation for its negative value or we can look at the positive outcome it eventually leads to..Silhouette is busy creating lots of former customers who then become customers for Make-the-Cut and machines such as the Zing, Max Air, Silver Bullet and other brands of better quality vinyl cutters.
In these situations the much better option is to walk away and never look back because you won't regret the change. - I've only had DE V3 so I don't have older version. If I post the file would anyone be willing to save is as svg for me? Its a mother day gift and I am running out of time. DE is not working as need so I bought MTC to continue is in there. For some reason the forum is not letting me attach the file.

You probably cannot upload the silhouette file as it's copywrite protected..0·Share on FacebookShare on Twitter - edited May 2015@jl9841 - sharing a copyright file on a public forum such as this is illegal and a copyright infringement. You'll have to do that privately..still illegal though.

- Studio version 3+ allows users to save as legacy. Legacy files will not open in Sudio version 2.0, but I have been able to open Legacy files with 2.5 and 2.9. Once opened in either of those and simply saved, the resulting Studio file will open in 2.0 or 1.9. The DE version of 1.9 or 2.0 will save as a usable SVG. This requires that I keep all three versions of that software on my computer. I have never found version 2 posted anywhere online. It came with the purchase of my Cameo, so that is what I use. I don't care to cut from that software, so I use it only for organizing my purchased collection of Studio files and for saving as SVG when I need to cut a purchased design to a different cutter.
The Silhouette Store is full of designs created by many, many, many profesional designers who would not allow their designs to be sold there if their work were not carefully protected. They do not want users to be able to share their purchased files with others. Silhouette is very concerned about protecting the rights of their designers. From their perspective, not allowing exports of files in formats that other software can use is a means of protecting against illegal sharing of files.Julie, [email protected] • My YouTube ChannelFree MTC Tutorials: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/MTC_Tuts/infoFree PCS Tutorials: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/pcs_tuts/infoPurchase: Popup Card Studio • Make The Cut! • Pazzles - well, I don't have 1.9...I actually have 1.5 and 2.0. - I too, searched a very long time for 2.0, and never found it anywhere. Bought my machine shortly afterward, but it already came with a later V cd.
